Life on the Mountain

Guests are in awe as they drive in the 2.5 miles of gravel road from the hard top. The views are outstanding provided it's not a thick mountain shrouded foggy day or evening.

At an elevation of 4'400 feet, the farm is a magical wildlife and mountain sanctuary with unique red spruce and northern hardwood forests providing the landscape while offering the nature enthusiast an opportunity to explore the biodiversity of flora and fauna found nowhere else in Virginia. A site on the VDGIF's Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail, our unique location provides a preserve for resident and migratory birds and wildlife viewing.

The actual watershed of three rivers begins here for the Potomac, the James, and the Greenbrier Rivers. Our mountain springs provide water for a small stream called Laurel Fork which meanders through high elevation riparian areas and eventually becomes a tributary of the Potomac River.
