Welcome!
High atop the Allegheny Mountains in western Virginia, Bear Mountain
Farm & Retreat offers the perfect gathering place for families,
friends, and small groups. Our lodge and camp, located on an old mountain
farm above 4000', offers special programs, gatherings, family weekends,
and retreats in a scenic wilderness setting.
As a site along the mountain route of the Virginia Birding and Wildlife
Trail, we have entertained hundreds of bird watchers, wildflower enthusiasts,
photographers, artists and naturalists over the years.
Our mountain environment is unique. There is a beautiful grove of Red
Spruce and mixed hardwoods with rhododendron and mountain laurel thickets
situated along a spring fed pond and small creek called Laurel Fork.
Wildlife is plentiful and the old pastures give way to wildflowers of
all kinds, wild huckleberries, blackberries, and diverse native edible
and medicinal plants.
Our Camp Cabins are named after the headwaters of three rivers: the
Potomac (Laurel Fork), the James (Back Creek) and the New River (Greenbrier)
which begin here creating a triple watershed divide.
Just a short hike from the lodge and camp, our top field straddles the
Virginia and West Virginia border. At 4400' in elevation, there are
spectacular views of over 50 miles of pristine ridges and valleys.

an awesome experience and take home unforgettable memories.
