There are old pastures returning to forest, hayfields,
miles of old chestnut rail fences, old apple trees still producing, mountain
springs (our drinking water), rhododendron thickets, flame azaleas, wild
huckleberries, the famous Allegheny Mountain blackberries, ponds, and a
diversity of wildlife. The Bear Mountain Farm offers families, friends, and organized groups a rustic and comfortable facility for extended stays in a magnificent mountainous area of western Virginia. Located on Allegheny Mountain in western Highland County, VA, bordering Pocahontas County, WV. Our place is a magical mountain of 50 acres that provide a beautiful and fun place to get away from it all. Just escape and enjoy living on mountain time! Guests have come from all over the country and world to enjoy this unique remote and secluded setting and find themselves enjoying the seclusion, the rest and relaxation, the intense quiet, soaking in the hot tub, unbelievable star gazing, and hiking our nature trails. This experience will let you live on mountain time and you and your family and friends will take home a memorable getaway experience in the mountains. |
From the top field at 4400' in elevation there are spectacular views for over 50 miles of pristine ridges and valleys. The darkest night skies in the east begin right here . . . and are perfect for stargazing enthusiasts. The well-maintained Nature Trails make for a great family walk about. |
